It’s All About the Plaid, How I Painted my Plaid Walls

New Look to my sewing room.

How to paint a plaid design on a wall

Our plan had been to live in the condo for a bit and then purchase a house, you know a house like we sold..I don’t think that is happening anytime soon. AND… I hate my sewing room, yes I said it, “HATE” my sewing room. This is the THIRD do of it, there was no committee meeting about it…since Husband retired, he cares about me decorating???

I painted the two walls the standard white of our condo about two weeks before doing the strips. And BEFORE you all go off the deep end, I’m a REALLY good painter and I don’t cover things, I am slow and steady. Kind of, I paint at my own risk. BUT, you may need to cover….How to paint a plaid THIS piece of paper is the most important of ALL.  Plan it out. I like to work a couple of hours a day. I NEVER paint when I am tired. Nothing goes right and I really like painting so for me it’s get up, breakfast and paint. In the pool by 1:00, always my end goal.

I used a level and one of my quilting rulers, ten inch one, very fine lines across the wall with a pencil and then added the blue tape just on the outside of the lines.

I added the Valspar Clear Glaze to the paint, it’s doesn’t change the paint color it just lets you work a bit longer with the paint, it doesn’t dry as fast. NOT a paid promo…

I finished painting the strips and removed the tape pretty quickly.

I let it dry a couple of days and then added the up and down strip. Same as before, measure, mark, tape and paint.

Did just a bit of touch up and I LOVE it.

I designed and built a HUGE table, with Husband’s help, will share soon.
