With so much going on, I kind of missed my birthday… but I have reached the ripe old age of 66 and some days everything seems to hurt. My Florida swim body now feels a bit saggy, and I have learned a new morning routine of time to get everything moving again. I have been trying to have self-care be more than a bubble bath. Taking walks, laughing quilting, drawing, read or just being, whatever helps me find peace within yourself and relaxes your mind.
But, who needs a bikini body when you’ve got quilts, a bit of wisdom and experience of a life well-lived? I have family, friends, a huge cup of coffee, a quilt, a book and a comfy home. Life is wonderful

After the 4th of July holiday I few years ago, I was thinking about a quilt pattern of each state. And here is what “I” came up with, there are many other state quilt blocks but this is MINE. This is a big quilt pattern block, finished size of fourteen inches by fourteen inches. I just finished drawing the patterns and will start piecing the blocks soon, so if a measurement mistake??? Let me KNOW ! I truly can’t guess when this quilt book will get together, I can’t seem to get all the quilt block finished?!?

I have one Grandson who is just his own person (from birth), has his own ideas and his VERY own way of doing everything. I pretty much dream quilt blocks…I love moving around pieces and changing each quilt block with small pattern changes or fabric colors. These quilt blocks came about from my small quilt groups challenge of taking the same quilt center and we each do a quilt block and see what we come up with. The Ladies Quilt Pattern started early on in my quilt designing. I love sampler quilts, I draw and draw quilt blocks. Some are classic ones and some are the ones I designed.
When I was designing and planning this quilt, I was home day after day. I would spend entire days piecing quilt blocks. Kind of my heaven and there are 68 quilt blocks in this quilt book/pattern. Husband worked twelve-hour days, six days a week. And I seemed to be able to be content and happy in my world of quilt blocks. The thing that took The Ladies to the next level was the trip to the fabric shop. I was always hoping to own a shop,(dream) any way, I knew the blue fabric was right when I saw it. Purchasing fabric is kind of a sport to me and I do it ALL the time. Knowing the blue was going to be the base and pop color of the quilt I purchased about 5 yards. Way more than would be needed. But…more is more. The additional colors, pink, green and the blue pattern were from my scrap closet that I had on hand. With this quilt I figured out each blocks colors as I pieced it, but not each quilt block as it would be put together into the quilt. And/or what quilt block would be placed next to each other.
