I have one Grandson who is just his own person (from birth), has his own ideas and his VERY own way of doing everything. He’s never a stranger, never worries about much and has a heart for kindness to all. So, when he asked for a birthday quilt, this is what I came up with, he’s our Crazy Man. The “Crazy” part of this quilt is the background fabric, it’s bold, it’s yellow and it’s what makes the blocks a “Crazy Man” quilt.

A simple Friendship pattern is taken in a new direction, from its basic form turns into a fun and wonderful. Each block has a finished size of Twelve-by-Twelve Inchesand you have a total of Twelve patterns.

I pretty much dream quilt blocks…I love moving around pieces and changing each quilt block with small pattern changes or fabric colors. These quilt blocks came about from my small quilt groups challenge of taking the same quilt center and we each do a quilt block and see what we come up with. I designed twenty-eight quilt blocks…and made the ones here… I pretty much turned the group sideways, as they weren’t that receptive… You know a quilt group, follow the rules, didn’t hear any rules…but that’s OK, here they are for YOU ! Each quilt block has a finished size of 12” x 12”

This Quilt started with a simple Bear Paw quilt block and then drawing and drawing sixteen quilt blocks that took that simple block and made all sixteen mine. The quilt as always going to have white background, I love quilt lines on white fabric, pink of course that’s me, adding color with greens, red, in both solids and prints. The outside border is pieced with green square and triangle leaves.
Have you ever made a quilt and as each quilt block is finished you giggle at what you just did? This is how I felt as this quilt was going together, into a finished eighty-eight by eighty-four-inch quilt. Kind of Perfect.

The Ladies Quilt Pattern started early on in my quilt designing. I love sampler quilts, I draw and draw quilt blocks. Some are the classic ones and some are the ones I designed and like.
When I was designing and planning this quilt, I was home day after day. I would spend entire days piecing quilt blocks. Kind of my heaven and there are 68 quilt blocks in this quilt book/pattern. Husband worked twelve-hour days, six days a week. And I seemed to be able to be content and happy in my world of quilt blocks. The thing that took The Ladies to the next level was the trip to the fabric shop. I was always hoping to own a shop,(dream) any way, I knew the blue fabric was right when I saw it. Purchasing fabric is kind of a sport to me and I do it ALL the time. Knowing the blue was going to be the base and pop color of the quilt I purchased about 5 yards. Way more than would be needed. But…more is more. The additional colors, pink, green and the blue pattern were from my scrap closet that I had on hand. With this quilt I figured out each blocks colors as I pieced it, but not each quilt block as it would be put together into the quilt. And/or what quilt block would be placed next to each other. See one of The Ladies, quilt patterns.
