I’m sharing the pattern as usual, but then  I will walk you through the piecing of that pattern. I break the block down showing you how a quilt pattern is pieced. If you don’t need help piecing a block, get started ! !

Cut 1 Lt. Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Make Triangles
Cut 1 Green – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Cut 1 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Make Triangles
Cut 8 Assorted Colors – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”
Cut 8 White – 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”
Make Triangles
Cut 2 Lt. Green – 1 ½” x 1 ½”

Adding Outside Square to Nine-Patch

YOU asked and this is how “I” do it !

This is a different take on a center of a quilt block and can be added when you like, here is how I do it!   For this quilt block as shown, finished size five x five inches.

Cut 8 Green – 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″
Cut 1 Red – 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″
making a nine patch quilt blockMake 1, 9-Patch blocks as shown above
  
Cut 1 Red – 3″ x 3″
Cut corner to corner
 
Block How To:
free quilt table topper pattern
Cut your Squares (Pieced square) and cut triangles as stated in the pattern.
Sew on the top triangle, Trim the ends even.
Sew on the bottom Triangle, Trim the ends.
Note: sewing the pieces across make the square lay flat, as does trimming the ends.
Sew on the side triangles.
Trim the block make sure to leave the 1/4” seam allowance. Press
 Trim block INCLUDING Seam Allowance to 5″ on each side

Make Triangles
Cut 1 Background 3 7/8” x 3 7/8”
Cut this square in half – from corner to corner
Cut 2 Color 2” x 2” 
Cut 2 Background 2 3/8” x 2 3/8”
Cut these 2 squares in half – from corner to corner

Sew as shown Sewing Scissors
